So if you watch Modern Family you know who Claire Dumphy is. And in one particular episode she petitioned with the city for a stop sign at what she deems a very dangerous intersection and won! So in a similar way, we have battling our route to school. There is one official cross walk across from the school which we cannot use because you can't get there with a wheel chair. So we are forced to cross here - very dangerous. So I contacted the city and they so kindly added a wheel chair ramp to the other side of the street and extended the school zone sign so that we are still within school zone limits when we cross. Thank you City of Irving!
And in a little update to this story, unfortunately it did not yield the results I was hoping for. Cars do not yield to children or wheel chairs. No one is obeying the school zone, we still have a very hard time crossing because no one is willing to stop. So I'm back to City of Irving to see what they will come up with. Come on City of Irving, Don't fail me now
